High Cotton: The Sketches
Posted by Peach and Love on 14.02.2009 in High Cotton Game Photos

Women in the south have always had a tradition of getting together to play cards - canasta, bridge, spades.  My great grandmother loved a good game of Canasta, and I bet yours did too.  Since it did not involve gambling, she felt like her church sisters would approve.  :)

At Peach and Love, we decided to come up with a new game that would give women a reason to continue to come together for fun times with friends.  We wanted a spirited game that would be easy to plan for. We wanted a game that would allow you to play with any number of women up to 13 players - although we suggest having at least 6 players for maximum fun.

After practice games with friends and lots of work with our illustrator (a fabulous southern artist), we are excited to announce that we will be ready to release our fun, new game in about three weeks!

Our game is called "High Cotton" and is meant to be a fun tribute to doing well and being "in high cotton" in the south.  We chose images symbolizing high times in the old south.  Designs on our cards include items such as a mansion, a Cadillac, a hefty cigar, silver, pearls, diamonds, and other items that are easily recognizable.

We can't wait to share more with you as the plans come together, but we thought we would start by showing you how a little about the process of designing our cards.

Our illustrator began by sending us rough sketches for approval...

The next step was putting the images on the card faces.  Here is a sneak peek at two of our card faces...
